Wino (WHYNO the way i spell it) is a slang term used to describe people who consume large amounts of alcohol, especially wine. Most commonly, the term is applied to bums and homeless people who spend most of their spare money on liquor. However, some people from other social classes will use the word to describe themselves (though often in a somewhat jocular manner), especially if they consume large amounts of wine. Some people who are more well-off may extend the idea by using the homonym wineaux.
